The Fourth Step to Purpose
Have you looked at the first three steps to purpose?
Are you ready for this?
When Jesus came
to earth there was an announcement given by angels to certain shepherds
that the Messiah had been born. The announcement said, "Peace on earth,
good will toward men."
For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; who will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself. Therefore, look for the appearing of Jesus Christ for two reasons:
The first time He came he was viewed as a threat to the establishment—and they had Him killed. He did not resist them because His purpose was to die and pay for the sins of the world. He was the Sacrifice Lamb.
When He comes the second time He may also be viewed as a threat to the establishment. However, this time, His purpose is to subdue all the nations under Himself. He will lead an army of immortal saints and subdue the world to Himself. As the scriptures say:
And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. —Revelation 19:11-16What a fearful yet glorious picture this passage presents! What a purpose! This is The Cause! What a cause to work for! What a banner to march under! What a King we serve! He is the Prince of Peace! He is the KING OF KINGS AND THE LORD OF LORDS!
